Chronic pain

When there is pain lasting more than 3 months, especially at the spine area, it is proven that the motion dynamic changes (protective muscle contractions come to play and normal movement is disrupted), as well as brain’s reaction to the area’s stimuli (hypersensitivity). This phenomenon is called “central sensitization”.

In essence, patients with chronic pain are forming a special category, in which a different approach is needed: Their problems go past the “tissue damage” model for explaining pain ( the tissues are no longer the issue here but the hypersensitivity must be treated). Acupuncture may prove helpful, special mobilization technics might give us analgesic response and some time a multidisciplinary medical team may need to cooperate to deal with the complex phenomenon of chronic pain
